When something like this happened, I am become completely numb about shootings like this, it’s just another shooting in america. This one is no deferent at first, Sunday morning I was checking my twitter. I saw there have been another shooting in orlando. Not again I said to my self, This is like deja vu because there is one Friday night, But as I read the twits, the news: I said to my self WOW this is unbelievable. 50 people are dead Wow, What is unsettling is who the victims are. This is in a gay club. Wow

The question always when this happen is Why? This is a hate crime, this person wants to bring fear to the gay community. His father said he hated gays kissing. This is one of the effects of radical religious believe, even if its not direct. People need to stop defending islam.

I hate when people say: Oh its there culture blah blah blah. You mean it’s there culture to kill innocent people because they do not agree with their “LIFESTYLE”. I hate this so much, this well meaning people, this are liberal progressive people. I know muslims have a bad wrap in america, but duh….

Do not get me started on the gun issue, Here we go again, America, after the Sandy Hook shootings which killed young kids, I thought the lesson had been learned. We need it, but as we all know the NRA will not be happy. What we need is what Bernie Sanders advocates for, A POLITICAL REVOLUTION. To people who say the we can not do it because gun control, Republicans do not want it, excuse me, people who identify as Republicans, I mean your run of a mill republicans want gun control.

The problem is the Democratic Party, Who does not know how to promote shit (sorry for the vulgar language). I can not believe  after Sandy Hook and 90 percent of Americans support gun control. After only one try they gave up. What the heck! If I were the democrats I would say to the electorate look at the republicans, they do not represent you, and I will start from there.

Finally, This is very sad because first this month is LGBT pride month and it should be a fun occasion but secondly this hits so close to home,  I never had spoken about this before on this blog but I am Bisexual. People need to come out because if they do it will help the send a message that we are who we and are no one can stop us.

5 Important LGBT events

Gay_flag.png

Joquin Tenedora-Forte

June 9, 2016

As we all probably know this month is LGBT pride month. We are celebrating LGBT history, It is this month that we talk about what happen during the marriage inequality. we do answer where we are today if it’s not for the people who sacrifice in order for us to live our life as it is. so I am here to discuss three major events that happened in LGBT history.

  1. Stonewall uprising- Stonewall was not the first uprising of the  gay movement, it was the major one though because it was broadcast all over the america. In the early morning of June 28, 1969, there have been rioting at a gay bar own by the mafia, The police raided the bar, but gay men and women fought back, The next day the cops come again, but the LGBT people fought hard.
  1. AIDS epidemic- The AIDS epidemic is the hardest thing that happened to LGBT people particularly gay men.Because of the erasure of the gay community, by people like President Ronald Reagan who never spoken about the AIDS epidemic until the late 80’s

3.   The election and assignation of Harvey Milk- Harvey Milk is the first     openly gay state supervisor. He was a true leader. But after only a year of he was assented by former state supervisor Dan White.

4. Lawrence Vs. Texas case 2003- This is in my opinion is the most important case in LGBT history, because when you can not legalise some that is illegal to begin with. i.e. same sex marriage. It came one year before Massachusetts became the the first to legalise marriage between two people of the same gender.

5. Marriage equality -2015.,  Obergafell vs Hudges, this is the happiest case in gay history, This is the culmination of four and a half decades of fighting for recognition. Recognition of Life and Love from Stonewall onwards.

So this are five events that change the corse of a generation. What are your favourite LGBT events Tweet me @joaquinwrites. Please you may not forget them….

My message for the Bernie or Bust People

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

June 7, 2016

You may probably know about me, I am supporting Bernie Sanders for president, I adore the guy so much, he is the only person I am routing for the presidency . I also know that it is unlikely for him to win the nomination, He need almost seventy percent of the total number of delegates, And that will never happened.

Progressives has hated Hillary Clinton because she is not too progressive enough. But do you want to give Donald Trump the presidency, really people really. Donald Trump is the kind of person who you can not trust the presidency. because you can not control him and his actions or words.

Are you going to in trust Donald Trump with the nukes. I know we all hate Clinton’s rhetoric. She is not progressive enough, Though you need to not be fooled by what Trump is saying, He is just saying it to gain votes from progressives. He is a pathological liar.

So what should progressives do come election day, If you live in a deep progressive state, like New York, New Jersey or California, If you do not want to vote for Hillary Clinton, I will never oblige you to vote for her. because it will go to her anyway. But if you are in swing states like Florida, and Ohio, I urge you to vote for her.

The Supreme Court is on the line. Ginsburg is 82,  Brayer is 76 Kennedy is 76 look at the ages. This is not a joke, if Trump wins he will put people like him in place. I want you to think about this.

Lastly, please do not give the election to Donald Trump, Let us stop him from  ever winning the White House. He is a racist who I do not ever trust with the presidency of the United States.

I want to talk to you guys on twitter @joaquinwrites

Pride special: History of LGBT Pride

flag_gay_community_one_by_paundpro-d5qc36x

As we probably know this month, the month of June is LGBT pride month the month when we celebrate LGBT history. And this month I will be writing about the pillars of the Gay Liberation movement.

The term Gay Pride came about in the 1940s and 1950’s where in at this point LGBT people are shame. The  gay movement did some annual remainder during the 4th of July celebrations.’

In 1968 the father of the gay rights movement Frank Kamhney, after doing the white house picketing for years, he created a slogan gay is good, pattern after black is beautiful.

The biggest straggle is with the police, for years they made life harder for LGBT people in the 1950’s and 60’s. By 1969 the LGBT community was fed up by police raids, another pivotal thing in New York Greenwich Village happened. LGBT people of all walks of life came together that faithful June early morning to protest the police brutality.

less than a year after the Stonewall riots on November 2, 1969 Craig Rodwell propose that the pride march will be held in New York instead of in Philadelphia like they normally do until that point,  the LGBT community organise a ‘rally’ like the one they used to do, in New York Greenwich village. It was set on June of the next year. The organisers were surprise at the worm welcome by the bystanders at the parade.

Year after year the cities that celebrate pride grow, the first cities to adopt include San Francisco and Chicago. By the year 2000 former President Bill Clinton recognise the LGBT movement in a proclamation. As of today LGBT pride is celebrated in every continent of the globe.

As we celebrate LGBT pride month, we should remember people, people who fought for the freedom to be you.

This Week in LGBT: Why boycotts don’t do anything

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

April 19, 2016

This month North Carolina overwhelmingly passed a bill that prevents any city from passing a law that protects LGBT people, Transgender people are the most affected the law, and that they are being ban from going to their of bathroom of preferred gender. The gay community is obviously very outrage and sadden by this backwards bill.

There has been a lot of backlash, boycotts had been called. People had been very angry and mad. Ringo Starr and Bruce Springsteen had said that they are boycotting, they are are not going to play in North Carolina. Boycotts are a waste of time, I sed to love boycotts but after I listen to Academy award winner screenwriter Dustin Lance Black give a speech I change my mind.

Do not get me wrong what happen in North Carolina really is a set back for the transgender community. And we should support ever effort to repel that amendment. Boycotting will just make it worse. because it shows the people who do not want equality that the gay community and its supporters are authoritarians. And that the gay community wants to ban their religion and it is not good.

The gay community need to accept that the fact this is the law of the land in North Carolina. What we should do is we should do what the fight for marriage equality is very successful in doing. They gay community should fill a law suit and battle it out in the court and may the best argument wins. I know for a fact we will win. because this strategist worked.

The problem after the US has gotten marriage the gay groups become lazy. As if they do not want to finish the job that they started interns of the Non Discrimination laws and The Transgender Bathroom Bill. We should finish what we started.

The LGBT community should wake up because people are still suffering in many parts of the US. Finally I want to literate that marriage is not the end of all the problems. The gay community needs to be able to fix themselves.

My third productions on election 2016

Joaquin Tenedora-Fotte

April 19, 2016

Today is the New York State Republican and Democratic primary, where in people can vote for the person who they want to represent to their views. In November of last year I wrote my second production on 2016 presidential election. But Now is the time to write about about what will during the general. But first my what will happen during the New York Primaries for the Republican and Democratic Parties.

I will give Donald J. Trump New York and that is base on the polling data from reputable poling institutions he is leading in his home state. I think base on gut felling John Kasich will be second because New Yorkers even if they are conservative economically but they are they reasonable when it comes to social issues so I think they will go him. dead last will be Ted Cruz.

This can be a toss up between Bernie or Hillary at their home state. I really think that Bernie Sanders have a chance to win New York. though she has more name recognition. If he wins he will have a bigger and greater chance of beating her for the Democratic Primaries. If she wins his campaign may be over.

If Donald Trump wins the Republican nominations and Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic primaries. Donald Trump will say whatever corruption strategy he can trow at he to get the presidency and it is so true.

If it is Bernie Sanders Vs Donald Trump, Trump can not use the same strategy he will use  against Clinton. Because Bernie is one of the cleanest politicians, we ever did see. This not according to me. this is according to polling data, from NBC news.

If  it is Hillary Clinton vs. Ted Cruz, I think this will not happened because he will not win because he is far gone and he is too religious for most people. Only the tea party people will vote for Ted Cruz.

Lastly, We need to rally against Donald Trump, because we do not know what on earth Trump will do. He really is a big unknown, because he do not take money from interest groups, he is on his own so to speak. But he do not know what he will do. Finally, I would like a Bernie Sanders presidency, but I can do it with Hillary.

LGBT History: Proposition 8

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

April 13, 2016

flag_gay_community_one_by_paundpro-d5qc36x

In 2007 when California first legalize marriage equality and after only a year in one of the biggest campaign of against human rights, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints successfully undo the success of the LGBT community in  California. The mormon church and other religious organization successfully put marriage in the ballot in the 2008 elections and won by a short margin.

mormon-rainbow630

A little background for you, as soon as 2004 San Fransisco mayor Gavin Newsom for valentine’s day he decided to gave out marriage licenses to people of the same sex. Partly because he grew up in San Fransisco and knew a lot of gay people saw the humanity in them.

By 2007 the Californian house and senate passes a marriage equality law. The Republican governor, governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has no problem signing it to law.

arnie-img

By the next year, there is a challenge to the marriage law brought by conservatives that said the usual anti-LGBT arguments, they have been saying for decades. The LGBT rights groups assumes that the measure will not pass in liberal California, but they were wrong.

yeson8

The measure was called proposition 8, backers of prop 8 are churches,  including the Mormon Church who pour in a lot of money into this hateful cause. They run advertisements on Television telling Californians awful gay people are. The Church put up countless lies about gay relationships.

no-on-8-yardsign

The pro LGBT groups some how lost sight of what they fighting for. They run advertisement, about how the law is and how unfair it is for them. They made a mistake though they never put LGBT people on their ads. People will not mind hurting you if they do not who they are hurting.

obergefell_v-_hodges_decision_announced_at_the_supreme_court_of_the_united_states_june_26_2015

Election Day 2008 came, the LGBT groups, are very confident that they are going to win. But the better marketing of the opponent worked. They market it as if their is something wrong with gay people. They lied to Californians by their ads.

Gay Marriage advocates cheer during a rally moments before hearing the news of the Proposition 8 over-ruling outside the Ninth Circuit Courthouse in San Francisco

The LGBT groups learn their lessons after prop 8 they filled a lawsuit and won in 2013, they also won in the court of public opinion. they run good advertisement that ultimately change hearts and minds.

Thank you for all the memories American idol

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

April 11, 2016

AMERICAN IDOL: Logo 2009. CR: FOX

As we probably know this is the final season of American Idol, this is making me sad because idol had been there since 2001. I have been watching religiously for the show since 2006. it seem like my childhood is officially ending. i am now 23 years so american idol had been on air for more than half of my life.

The show is a prefect example of chasing the american dream, an american dream that dwindled during the show’s heyday due to the great resection.

The show was the first ‘adult show’ (not children oriented show) I remembered watching and was drawn to. I remembered watching the 3rd season when Fantasia Barino was on with two other ladies one of them was Filipino American Jasmin Trias and as a Filipino myself I supported her. I have plenty of memories watching the show, that i am going to miss. I am going to miss the auditions, hollywood week and just  the talent specially this last few seasons.

My favorite season of American Idol is the eighth season of the show: that is when Adam Lambert was on the show. When I first saw him he was already my favorite, boy did he delivered. Adam owned the stage from the time he was on the show. He thought me that it is okey to be deferent. When he lost i cried (literally) two weeks later he came out as gay. and as a sixteen catholic kid I understood what being gay meant. I am now a vocal supporter of gay rights.

A one of the Beatles George Harrison said in his 1970 song All Things Must Pass. American Idol time has pass. All we are left with is the memories. I will miss you American idol. You guys rock!
