WE ARE ORLANDO

The culture is what fuels this….

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

June 16, 2016

As you probably know by now there have been a shooting in a gay bar in Orlando Florida Sunday 12 June, which killed 49 individuals. This is the worst mass shooting in American History and the worst terrorist attack since 9/11. As the LGBT community morns the loss of its members. We as a people need to talk about the culture.

Sunday evening, I was watching liberal talker Ceynk Uger of The Young Turks, talking about the massacre and he said an interesting point about the American culture, that the american culture for the most part is anti gay. That the bible has done more harm than good in the lives of the people.

What I mean of that is religion affects mass media and politics, (i hope it did not affect) because America is a secular nation, Since recently the News outlets did not paint the LGBT community in the lightest of brush In movies they are always the laughing stuck from the 60s thru the late 1990s. Even liberal hollywood fall prey to this massive homophobia for off course their profit. No wonder their are people who think that the LGBT community is wrong.

Let us not forget that this culture in his home because according to at least one website he had went to the night club, and he have an account in one dating app. He might be gay or bisexual, and the thing is I felt so sad after I read this, because this is what fuels the kind of rhetoric that certainly is about hate in america and beyond.

This is why crazy people should not obtain a gun, The problem of guns in america is the worse I ever did see, Its gun deaths are off the charts, because they just have politicians who will defend the second amendment to death. Even if as we all know that is what the second amendment is. And then there is Donald Trump what can I say, he is a really bad person.

People died during the deadliest gun massacre in american history. I want to list their names. These are friends. brothers, sisters, This is about the victims not the suspect

Happy Pride Month

Pride special: History of LGBT Pride

flag_gay_community_one_by_paundpro-d5qc36x

As we probably know this month, the month of June is LGBT pride month the month when we celebrate LGBT history. And this month I will be writing about the pillars of the Gay Liberation movement.

The term Gay Pride came about in the 1940s and 1950’s where in at this point LGBT people are shame. The  gay movement did some annual remainder during the 4th of July celebrations.’

In 1968 the father of the gay rights movement Frank Kamhney, after doing the white house picketing for years, he created a slogan gay is good, pattern after black is beautiful.

The biggest straggle is with the police, for years they made life harder for LGBT people in the 1950’s and 60’s. By 1969 the LGBT community was fed up by police raids, another pivotal thing in New York Greenwich Village happened. LGBT people of all walks of life came together that faithful June early morning to protest the police brutality.

less than a year after the Stonewall riots on November 2, 1969 Craig Rodwell propose that the pride march will be held in New York instead of in Philadelphia like they normally do until that point,  the LGBT community organise a ‘rally’ like the one they used to do, in New York Greenwich village. It was set on June of the next year. The organisers were surprise at the worm welcome by the bystanders at the parade.

Year after year the cities that celebrate pride grow, the first cities to adopt include San Francisco and Chicago. By the year 2000 former President Bill Clinton recognise the LGBT movement in a proclamation. As of today LGBT pride is celebrated in every continent of the globe.

As we celebrate LGBT pride month, we should remember people, people who fought for the freedom to be you.

My thoughts on Jehovah’s Witnesses

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

 February 1, 2016

warning: this is a rant, and if you are easily offended, please do not read this blog post, you have been warn. This is totally my opinion and my opinion alone.

http://youtu.be/Nh2H5FrhoYM

I was watching a coming out video of Sebastian Castro an American Musician and model. Who when he came out of the closet was disown by his jehovah’s witnesses parents. I feel very angry and sad for his situation. Really, Jehovah’s Witness people, that is your kid. What the heck. This offended my sensibilities as a liberal. Who believes in human rights and dignity.

Did you know Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate their birthdays or Christmases. Yeah they do not celebrate Christmas, their are the only Christian sec that do not celebrate holidays, they believe that the only holiday you celebrate is Good Friday, the day according to Christian doctrine is the day when Jesus died, who said that.

One of the most frustrating things about this cult yes they are a cult even If they have millions of followers. Is that you can not be friends with non witnesses. Come to think of it that is the most Insecure thing because they think that their beliefs can not hold up to scrutiny.

The biggest thing about this cult is that you can be kicked out for mundane thing’s that as liberals we take for granted. Like having friends that are of different religious beliefs than us, and homosexuality. And if you are “lucky” your family will disown you. They will not talk to you. This colt is a travesty to humanity.

Lastly, I just want to say this thing what Sebastian’s parents did should be a crime. It should be a crime to disown your kids for something as arbitrary as their kids sexual orientation. Finally, Jehovah’s witnesses are a shame to the whole Christian religion.

This week in LGBT: Hillary Clinton’s LGBT rights record

Joaquin Tenedora-Forte

January 28, 2016

Recently the HRC, the Human Rights Campaign endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. I think it is a dumb idea for the HRC to support a candidate that have just flip fop on the issue. She is not for marriage equality back then, but why her and why not Bernie.

Remember that in 2004, when the Bush administration was trying to amend the constitution Hillary Clinton is for that. She said that marriage is a “sacred” institution, that is for a man and a woman to make children. I am not trying to say that she can not change her position. But the biggest thing about that there are really caveats.

The HRC got it wrong when they supported her. She really is not for marriage equality. She just flip flops to get support. Also the party platform, marriage equality is in the Democratic Party platform. And If she do not follow the mandate she will lose, the democratic nomination. It’s really a bad choice for them.

Why not Bernie? Bernie Sanders is a known civil rights activists, in fact the guy was in the March on Washington. Yeah, at first he may not be for marriage equality but he is for civil unions. Human rights is not just about marriage equality, or something like that, that is just a part of it. Civil rights is also about Income Inequality, racial inequality, gender inequality and criminal justice system. Which all of the mention Bernie is so in favor of. The HRC is so much about Mrs. Clinton, they are really a hypocrite.

Finally, the HRC is just picking that winnable candidate. They are also playing in the notion that Bernie will not win because he is a socialist democrat. Lastly, democratic socialist just means that Bernie just believes that the government’s job is to give people what they pay for in taxes.

Op-Ed: The Nature of Homosexuality

Joaquin Tenedora-ForteOctober 27, 2015

There are no more controversial topics than the issue of the nature of homosexuality. But one thing is for certain sexuality is innate and natural, shutting down the idea by the psychologist Freud, that the sexuality is caused by nurture, the idea that gay men grow up having overbearing mothers and distant fathers, is absurd now to say the least.

No more than eight to ten percent of the population are gay, such a small number that since gay people do not bare their own children (until recently), research shows that gay people exist cross culturally, no matter what race or class. In this Article i will be talking about gay males. in my article next week I will be looking on what makes lesbians.

The more older brothers the boy have the more likelihood that he will be homosexual or bisexual. According to Michael Bailey an American psychology professor. It’s a big contrast on how people perceive that issue, in the past they thought that being gay is cause by playing with girls, more prominently the Sisters. When a mother have a son her body is allergic to the XY chromosome, and when she have multiple sons her body becomes much more relaxed therefore giving birth to a much feminine son.

There is one study about on epigenetics that states homosexuality is cause by a Genetic mutation that makes people to be gay. For example, a person has a sibling or cousin that is gay and then have a son who is not gay there for his grandson have a much bigger likelihood to be gay. There for being gay is innate.

One study on identical twins shows if one twin is gay the other one have a 75 percent chance of being gay. It is a strong suggestion that being gay is genetic and innate. In the older brother effect theory if the older brother is a half brother with the father, like the general population of people they have a two percent chance of being gay.

The significance of the studies is that it disproved many people who say that homosexuality is a learn behavior and could be change. And therefore should not be afforded the same rights like marriage and non discrimination. But Religion is a choice and that we do not discriminate base on religious beliefs.

Lastly, being gay is not a choice. People who say that being gay is choice are gay who are repressing their feelings. Finally, being gay is a normal and natural human behavior.

LGBT Monday: Tips for kids on how to come out of the closet

Joaquin Tenedora ForteOctober 12, 2015

Yesterday October 11 is National Coming Out Day. For LGBT people today is the day to own their identity, their gay identity or anything that they are lying about. But I want to caution thirteen or fourteen year old children, because coming out maybe not the right idea to do. Young teenagers are more vulnerable to being homeless. Here are four tips to help you ease the coming out prosses.

1. Take a good hard look at your family or friends- listen to them when talking about gay rights, when people are unguarded people can be truthful. For example, ask questions; mom, what do you think of Kurt from Glee? If she said, he is awesome, that might mean you are in good hands.

2. Give them a year to think about your sexuality: if you came out of the closet to your parents and they are not accepting, give them a year to ask questions or to be hostile to you. You need to be the adult here. Most parents will be accepting of you and your sexuality.

3. Do not rush coming out- Coming out of the closet is no rush. It is a process, It takes months, years or even decades to come out. Take for instance Caitlyn Jenner who at the age of 64 came out as transgendered.

  4. Do  not use Bisexuality as a stepping stone for coming out as fully gay- This is very annoying to people who are really bisexual. You are stilling their identity. It’s harder for them to come out of the closet. You are if not sure of your sexuality, Just say I am still questioning.

Finally, it will not be better it will be worse for a while or maybe a long while. You may lose friends or your family may not   accept you but keep on fighting. Remember this, you need to be who you are, your identity is more important than friends. Lastly, you have lifetime of coming out to do, so do not rush.

LGBT Monday: Bisexuality

Joaquin Tenedora- ForteOctober 5, 2015
I have a question for the people, what is the meaning of ‘B’ in LGBT, obviously it is bisexual. Do you realize that there are more bisexual people than we realize or acknowledged, we can also be bisexual. People also think that bisexuality is a stepping stone for coming out as gay and lesbian, or worst do not exist.

Alfred Kinsey an American biologist suggested in a study in 1948, that human sexuality is a spectrum ranging from fully gay to fully straight.(this is called the Kinsey scale) In between there is this thing called bisexuality. Like gender expression, sexuality is wide ranging. Unlike gender though, sane/intelligent people never think Transgenderism do not exist.

The problem facing mostly bisexual man is what I said in the  beginning of this post. Because gay men are trying to use bisexuality as a stepping stone for fully coming out as gay. Furthermore human beings likes putting things on opposing spots, for example the opposite of night is day, the opposite of tall is short, like that, because it is a lot easier. But when it comes to things like gender or sexuality, this need not apply.

In addition, people think that being bisexual is promiscuous, as in they can not decide on what team to play on. Also bisexual men in a committed relationship with the opposite sex can always almost identify as straight, people can not fault them for identifying as such. Also in committed gay relationships as well.

Lastly, people have a right to come out or not to come out. It is the family or friends job to hear them out, if they are gay, they are gay. if they are bisexual, they are bisexual. And besides it is not your business when they come out or what label to use. Finally in my perfect world, no one needs to come out of the closet.
